Chapung Safaris Africa was established in 1989 in Zimbabwe by Professional Hunter Ray Townsend, who expanded his hunting business to South Africa by joining forces with Professional Hunter and Outfitter Jacques Hartzenberg, who is based in Cape Town with his own farm in the Eastern Cape. This resulted in a bigger variety of game species and quality trophy hunts available to the hunters.

Ndumo Hunting Safaris headquarters is based in South Africa, but they organise excellent Dangerous Game Safaris in Zimbabwe. These Dangerous Game hunts are conducted within communal land south of the Kariba Lake, or on a privately owned Conservancy south of the Zambezi valley. The privately owned Conservancy is a good area for Plains Game and Dangerous Game hunting. Elephants normally migrate into the Conservancy after the rainy season has started the end of November, and is therefore a seasonal hunting animal.
